Author Biographies

• Guillermo Dellmans, Instituto Nacional de Musicología "Carlos Vega" / Facultad de Artes y Ciencias Musicales de la Universidad Católica Argentina

  Guillermo Dellmans is an Argentine musicologist and professor. He holds a Bachelor's and a Higher Teaching Degree in Arts, specializing in Music, from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Buenos Aires, where he is currently pursuing a PhD in History and Theory of the Arts. His dissertation is titled: “Classical Music in Buenos Aires and its Relationship with the Spanish Exile in the Context of the First Peronist Era (1943-1955).”

  His research focuses on the history of Argentine music, intellectual and artistic networks, music historiography, and the relationship between music and politics during the mid-20th century, with particular attention to the processes linked to the Spanish Civil War and the first Peronist era.

  He serves as Head Researcher of the Written Tradition Music Section at the Carlos Vega National Institute of Musicology, Adjunct Professor of Music History X (Argentina) and Music History and Analysis I (Folklore) at the Faculty of Arts and Musical Sciences of the Catholic University of Argentina, and Visiting Professor in the Master's Program in Latin American Musicology at Alberto Hurtado University (Chile). He is a member of accredited research teams at the University of Buenos Aires and the National University of the Arts. He was a research fellow at the Mariano Moreno National Library (2012) and received the research grant from the fourth edition of the UNESCO Pau Casals Chair Award (2016–2027). He worked as a music journalist for the magazine El Gran Otro. He has presented papers at national and international conferences and is a member of the Argentine Association of Musicology and the International Musicological Society (ARLAC-IMS).

• Omar García Brunelli, Instituto Nacional de Musicología "Carlos Vega" / Universidad Nacional de las Artes

  Doctor in Theory and History of the Arts from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires and Bachelor of Music, specialty Musicology, from the Argentine Catholic University. He has carried out undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities at universities and specialized centers and participated in conferences in America and Europe. He is currently a professor of the Master's Degree in Musicology at the Department of Musical and Sound Arts of the National University of the Arts. He has worked as a researcher at the INM since 2011, although he has sporadically carried out research activities at the Institute since 1985.

  His research area is urban popular music, especially tango. He is currently directing the creation of the second volume of the Rioplatense Tango Anthology at the Institute. He is the author of articles on urban popular music and tango, and collaborated in that specialty for the Dictionary of Spanish and Hispano-American Music, the New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, and the Continuum Encyclopedia of Popular Music. He compiled the volume Studies on the Music of Astor Piazzolla (2008) and published Basic Discography of Tango 1905-2010. His story through recordings (2010). He is a member of the Argentine Association of Musicology (AAM) and the IMS Regional Association for Latin America and the Caribbean (ARLAC-IMS).
